Comment:

 I was trying to get into single user mode from graphical (typically
 runlevel 5) mode, and doing it the way I was used to doing it on other
 systems.  But Sugar-on-a-stick with F14 behaves just like the XO does, so
 this is likely an upstream approach.

 There therefore is ideally no bug at our level.  The Linux/BSD
 distributions I historically have worked on treated "init S" more or less
 like "init 1" and never started two shells on one console like Fedora
 seems to.

 Closing since Fedora 14 seems to do this as well (although it supposedly
 has a newer init system).   If it is an issue, perhaps it needs to be
 discussed upstream.
