 fyi, i fixed a powerd bug recently that caused it to ignore VT tty events
 (as well as the creation of inhibit files) that occurred within the last 5
 seconds of inactivity.  so one could type, be idle for 10 seconds, then
 type during the next 5, and the laptop would suspend.

 don't know if this might have been what happened.
