Comment:

 That's interesting -- sounds like a generic kernel bug, then.  Do you know
 if it happens on other Linux systems too?

 It suggests that a part of hiddev_ioctl() is failing to check for a newly
 disconnected device.  I can't seem to resolve your d095431e instruction
 pointer into a line in hiddev_ioctl(), though.

 Do you know whether someone at MIT has a WeDo that we could borrow to
 investigate?  It couldn't be high-priority, but it sounds like a bug that
 should get fixed at some point.
