running Write-63 (in os207) on a properly configured spanish 1.5HS machine
with a spanish keyboard exhibits these misbehaviors:
   - the double-quote key (shift-2) produces << and >> characters (i.e.,
what i think are french-style quotes).
   - the apostrophe key (unshifted question mark, next to Borrar) produces
 right- and left-facing double quotes.
   - the accent grave (backtick, on shift-3) works correctly as a
diacritical, but when hit twice, like other dead keys, should produce a
bare accent grave. Write changes this to right- and left-facing double
 quotes.

using the us/intl version of the mechanical keyboard, on a different
laptop, Write does none of these transformations. (it does convert double
and single quotes to be alternately left- and right-facing, but it
preserves their doubleness and singleness. a backtick produces
alternating left- and right- single quotes. an accent grave, typed twice,
 produces a bare accent grave.

(note that there is no backtick key on the spanish keyboard. i believe
the accent grave diacritical is meant to double for that purpose, in which
case i would expect shift-3, hit twice, to produce left- and right-facing
single quotes. but this is just a guess.)

one other thing: all of single/double quote, and backtick, work properly
in Terminal, and in search and edit fields.
