 thank you for pointing me to yet another remapping layer in the world of
 linux character input.  i think that makes at least a dozen layers.

 a) i'm not sure which part of the problem this will solve.

 b) i see no evidence (after disabling olpc-kbdshim) that the current rules
 in /usr/share/hal/fdi/information/10freedesktop/30-keymap-olpc.fdi have
 any effect on the current system.  am i missing something?  (os126)
