Comment:

 Confusion on the test bench ... Laptop was the target of an accidental
 reflashing using os206 just now, destroying opportunity for further
 analysis.  ''badblocks'' no longer reports any bad blocks.  The badness
 was not persistent; it was probably caused by power failure during writes.

 As a result, I don't see any further need for this ticket to be open.
