 Yes, and this is entirely due to XO-1 specific design of Record activity.
 Tests done in #9641 support this conclusion.

 (Also, always check amixer output because the Record activity does
 manipulate some of the mixer controls and the state may affect testing
 that seeks to exclude Record.  The controls are stored by the system on
 controlled shutdown, and are not stored on forced of uncontrolled
 shutdown).
