 A few more notes:

 Digging through git comments on lx_memory.c, particularly cf0655ed, the
 reduction from
 {{{
 (II) EXA(0): Offscreen pixmap area of 11208320 bytes
 }}}
 in 8.2.0 to
 {{{
 (II) EXA(0): Offscreen pixmap area of 6219776 bytes
 }}}
 in F11 seems to be a deliberate change in the geode driver to permanently
 reserve enough memory for rotation and one fullscreen video overlay,
 rather than having these allocations succeed or fail depending on the load
 in the pixmap area. So it's not really anything to worry about.

 Seeing this, and the discussion about allocation errors at
 http://lists.laptop.org/pipermail/devel/2009-December/026970.html, I
 thought to try out the record activity. This change also seems to fix Xv,
 so the Record activity also works now (in both 16bpp and 24bpp). Both
 still pictures and video recording/playback seem to function fine.
