Replying to [comment:21 pgf]:
> a) isn't that what chkconfig is for?
No, because prelink is run from anacron, and is not always present as a
process. chkconfig is for services that are rendered as persistent
processes.
> seems like a more discoverable way to turn it off.
We don't lack a discoverable way to turn it on or off.
> unless you're talking about doing at build-time, in which case chkconfig
would probably be harder.
I think it would be the same.
> b) regarding the 4G machines, you're saying this because the only things
that will be prelinked after build time are mostly rpm installs, is that
right?
No, I'm mentioning the 4Gb machines because for them this ticket is really
not a problem, and I'd rather not fix something that isn't a problem,
because that way can lead to more problems later.
I don't think we need to worry about what experts may do with yum and rpm
after the build is deployed to a laptop ... but with prelink off any yum
updated packages won't have their new binaries prelinked.
