Comment(by Quozl):

 Mikus, please test for the symptom ''failure to boot automatically with
 hub, keyboard and trackball attached'' again with
 http://dev.laptop.org/~wmb/q2e42e.rom

 I've tested with a hub. It works fine on Q3A33d with XO-1.5. On Q2E42e
 it generates an error during boot but does not prevent boot:

 {{{
 +
 Forthmacs
 Type 'i' to interrupt stand-init sequence

 Failed to set device address: 2
 Retrying with a delay
 Failed to set device address: 2
 USB2 devices:
 /pci/usb at f,5/wlan at 0,0
 USB1 devices:
 OLPC C2, 256 MiB memory installed, S/N SHC92805B50
 OpenFirmware  CL1   Q2E42e Q2E   EC Firmware PQ2E34

 Type the Esc key to interrupt automatic startup
 }}}

 The same error but with different device addresses is also generated
 independently of boot using probe-usb.
