Comment(by mikus):
Unfortunately the hardware on my XO-1.5 B2 is supposed to not handle
suspend well - so I disable suspend on the XO-1.5. However, with the way
I have my systems set up, suspend on even an XO-1 (if enabled) will often
take place *despite* a long-running process (such as a 700 MB download)
still being active.
My bypass is to also run my XO-1s with suspend usually deactivated. But
when I *do* have suspend enabled, I definitely WANT warning ahead of time
(before the system actually "sleeps" the cpu). Then if I don't want the
cpu to go to sleep, the dimming of the screen gives me time to manually
intevene (typically, I press 'shift') -- and aviod that will-soon-happen
suspend.
[[BR]]My point is that, although someone would not want the screen to dim
who would want the system to suspend (and save electricity) between
sentences of foreground input -- someone else who was concerned about
suspend interrupting a background process might well want to see the
screen dim before suspending.
My personal preference would be to keep "screen dimming" -- but to have an
explanation in the Release Notes, telling each of those users how to
specify the kind of dimming behavior he wants.
