 i don't think we should be quick to sacrifice between 500 to 800 mW
 (xo-1.5 vs. xo-1) simply because the user selected a non-sugar desktop.  i
 turn off wireless because i know it will make my laptop run longer -- not
 because i particularly care about suppressing transmissions for "airplane
 mode".
