I think I have a likely initial cause here.
For some reason, NetworkManager defines the CDMA device type (device_type
4 as seen in Sugar's NetworkManagerObserver()) separately from the GSM
device type, even though I'm pretty certain both types of modems support
AT commands and PPP connections.
Simply telling Sugar to handle the CDMA type with its GSM listener does
not seem to work as a quick hack (although I do not know what APN I need
to specify or if Sugar might be unnecessarily clearing the default one).
More research is needed. If not fixed in Sugar mainline perhaps this
needs to be filed upstream.
