 An XO-1 user (Anna, Birmingham, BTW) with os850, in GNOME desktop, with a
 USB drive inserted, and a USB ethernet device.

 Several times network connection was lost.  Possibly through idle suspend;
 it had not been turned off.

 A USB drive contained an ext3 filesystem, mounted in GNOME, became
 corrupted and could not be repaired using e2fsck on an Ubuntu system.
