 Changing the pipeline to

 `gst-launch -vvv v4l2src ! videorate ! video/x-raw-yuv,framerate=5/1 !
 fakesink alsasrc ! identity dump=true ! wavenc ! fakesink`

 shows that it is indeed alsasrc that stops producing frames, rather than
 wavenc that purposely drops them.
