 In the field: How do you upgrade Uruguay without teachers losing their
 files? Teachers that actively use the XOs are used to saving stuff on usb
 sticks to avoid losing it.

 They have been consistently issuing USB sticks to install/reflash XOs.
 Probably because olpc-update and is related infrastructure has not matured
 completely, and because it is murder on the network connections and
 servers. Neither of the problems is easy to fix.

 In any case, the task of the Journal is preserving user data/files/journal
 entries. If a version upgrade means that valid files on a USB stick are
 not usable anymore on the new version, I don't think it is a good thing.
