 I can see how it's something nice to have, but the question I have here is
 how useful will this be in the field? I see a good chance of the work you
 are requesting not being useful to almost nobody, while being a good
 amount of work and new code to maintain.

 Btw, the journal and datastore maintainer is Aleksey.
