 with the user-level 1 second sleep, my 10ms autowack test did 4300 cycles
 as of last night.  i eliminated the sleep (so it suspends right away), and
 it's done almost 14000 cycles overnight.

 what's the next test?  i can get a wireless card from 1cc fairly easily,
 or do different tests with what i've got.
