 Further testing on the same unit without reboot ... the hardware cursor
 with the uninitialised cursor data changes position but not shape or
 colour when switching into X from text console.  The hardware cursor is
 also visible over the X root window, and the X cursor runs under it.
 Position continues to change with each switch ''to'' VT 3 from VT 1.
