Comment(by pgf):

 there's no data from the device causing the cursor to move.  the device
 is, however, closed and reopened.  (due to #9572.)  but since the
 close/reopen is happening in olpc-kbdshim, and not the X server, it's
 pretty unlikely that that's related to the cursor jump.
