My principal problem is lack of decent "how-to" documentation.
There are five large files in dev.laptop.org/~cjb/f11-1.5/os40. None of
them helped me create an usable USB stick.
1) os40.zd - wiki.laptop.org/go/F11_for_1.5 describes how to use 'fs-
update' to write this to the XO-1.5 SD card.[[BR]]
2) os40.iso - wiki.sugarlabs.org describes how to use 'livecd-iso-to-
disk' to write this to a storage device (e.g., USB stick). I followed the
directions, but the XO-1.5 boot process stalled when booting from that USB
stick.[[BR]]
3) os40.tree.tar.lzma - I could not find any documentation. After
copying the content to the USB stick, and adjusting directory placement, I
was able to boot the XO-1.5 as far as having a text console - but appeared
to be missing devices.[[BR]]
4) os40.bootable.gz - example in dev.laptop.org/~cjb/rawhide-xo, but OFW
had problems with that USB stick.[[BR]]
5) os40.img.gz - example in wiki.laptop.org/go/DebXO. I followed the
directions, but the XO-1.5 boot process stalled when booting from that USB
stick.
----
Once someone points me to a proper description of how to create an
bootable USB stick from the os40 build, I will report on whether that
"authorized" method has succeeded or failed for me.
