Comment:

 Triage.

 Does not reproduce for me with the one SD card that I have.  Do you have a
 way to accurately measure the maximum card thickness?  A micrometer or
 vernier calipers.

 Using vernier calipers on my sample, the maximum thickness is 2.16mm.

 There's more to it than thickness I guess.

 Meanwhile a workaround might be to anchor a loop of adhesive tape so that
 the card can be pulled out more easily once it is unlocked.  Take care to
 maintain the adhesive tape to prevent it from becoming stuck inside.
