#9650: Hard lockup on tab-completion / shell-edit on VT

This is on XO-1.5, Q3A15, os34. Steps to repro

  - Boot OS (tested booting to Sugar)
  - Switch to a VT, start root shell session
  - prepare a long command line, for example

   ls /usr/share/sugar-presence-service/telepathy_plugin.py

  - then return to the start of the line and add a "prior" parameter to the
command, for example (with ^ indicating the cursor position):

   ls /usr/lib/python/site-packages/sugar/^ /usr/share/sugar-presence-
 service/telepathy_plugin.py

At that point, the extended commandline sees some tearing of the image on
the bottom right corner of the text, and the system locks up hard.

I tried this in various ways. If I use just commandline edits (ctrl-w,
ctrl-y) to add the "earlier" parameter, the problem does not happen. If I
use tab-completion, it does happen everytime.
