Comment:

 The empty ESSID scan result was caused by a wireless router (Netcomm
 NB600W).  A factory reset fixed the problem.

 (The problem was caused by transmitting a DVB-T transport stream over
 multicast using getstream with about six associated XOs.  The router began
 to drop packets, and then became unpredictable.  The problem was isolated
 to the router.)
