 disabled automatic power management, via sugar control panel.

 killed off networking:

 killall NetworkManager wpa_supplicant
 modprobe -r libertas_sdio
 }}}

 ran the following:

 do

 echo mem > /sys/power/state
 free
 done
 }}}

 free memory decreases by approx. 124Kbytes per cycle.  (with approximately
 80M total free, so no other memory pressure, or system activity.)

 machine is a C1 "lite" machine (512M ram), running os64.
