 Researched other multicast implementation code.  In telepathy-salut
 _open_multicast() a call to setsockopt with IP_MULTICAST_IF with the
 argument being the IP address of eth0 might also fix the symptom, since it
 removes the ambiguity.  However this might prevent operation over multiple
 link-local networks on the same XO.
