 dsd, you nailed it. I was developing with emacs on a VT, restarting Sugar
 frequently, and mounting the usb disk while tailing a log on VT1.

 It'd sometimes work, somtimes not. When I was most anxious, I'd be on VT1
 tailing that log, so it'd fail.

 It won't fail in the general user case, so low pri, IMHO.
