Comment:

 OK. The fix has been sent upstream and included in olpc-2.6 for the next
 build.

 The question still remains, why did the card start failing to resume?, but
 these are outdated systems and we have plenty of other tickets about the
 wifi-resume problems. So I think we're done here.
