 If I boot with the card in the slot it will not be detected and mounted
 and nothing I do, such as taking it out and putting it back in, will make
 it be detected and mounted.  But if I boot with the slot empty and then
 carefully insert the card it will (sometimes) be mounted.  I can take it
 out and put it in again and it will unmount and remount correctly if I do
 it right (sliding it in and out helps).  But if, with the card in place
 and mounted, I shutdown and reboot, being very careful not to jostle or
 jar anything, it will not mount or be mountable, even though nothing
 physical has changed.  This did not happen before the update; I used to
 leave the card in all the time and it was always detected and mounted.  It
 may be software/firmware after all.
