Comment:

 It looks like we need to call bindtextdomain() here, since both the
 textdomain as well as the localedir are messed up when you are inside an
 activity.

 The attached patch does this, but I'm not happy with the way localedir is
 being hardcoded. Maybe someone with better autotools foo than me can do
 the correct magic to generate the correct localedir.
