Comment:

 We've decided this is not really blocked by #8499, insofar as the
 activities are served perfectly well -- that nobody knows about them is a
 separate problem.

 The activities index is usable via Browse
 (http://schoolserver/activities), but the laptop will not remember where
 it got the activity and there is no way to tell it to try the school
 server for updates.

 For the laptop to automatically discover and use activity repositories on
 the server, there are two new tickets:

 #8499 - Schoolserver needs a "service announcement" scheme
 #8538 - XO needs to discover and use activity repositories on the school
 server
