 what does sugar do now?  it just writes to /sys/class/backlight/dcon-
 bl/brightness, doesn't it?  can ohmd just use inotify to stay informed of
 writes to that node?  (inotify works correctly on it -- i just tried with
 inotifywatch.)

 (i don't like the idea of adding a private protocol to control brightness
 -- makes it that much harder to integrate other tools.)
