 I'll remember that.

 Unfortunately, at home my wired internet connection (the only one I have)
 goes throgh a proxy.  In Spring 2008 Guillaume gave me a patch that
 allowed telepathy/jabber to work through a proxy -- but then the upstream
 code was changed and the patch stopped working.  My current impression is
 that I cannot connect to a jabber server using my home connection.

 I'll close this ticket.
