on the grounds that List view was the ideal place to *manipulate*
Activities (e.g., delete them, etc.).
Yep, same thoughts here when that change happened, though I was never 100%
sold on the previous 'hidden' activity as a helper concept.
> Now #8350 asks that a front end (capable of 'open') be added to Read.
If what is wanted is a PDF-viewing Activity, why not create one
specifically -- and keep Read as a 'helper' which is not itself capable of
'open' ?
Read seems ideal to cover both use cases, adding the capability to pick a
Journal entry (if it's not resumed from a document) seems like a
reasonable step now that the Journal object picker code is more
stable/functional/pretty. Right now this addition would cover the
occasional case when a kid clicks on the Read activity icon directly while
exploring* (the alternative is to modify the UI to not allow a given
activity to be started directly), but once the home view starts to show
recent Journal entries for activities Read will be a very useful icon on
the kids main home view for resuming current reading material - it'll also
likely get clicked directly quite a bit more...
*Currently when closing an empty Read activity you also get the scary
"Keep error: all changes will be lost Don't_stop/Stop_anyway"
