 This raises the question -- is Read a 'helper', or a full-fledged
 'activity'?

 Once upon a time, Read could not be called from Home View (I believe it
 was being hidden because it could not itself do 'open', but had to be
 called from somewhere else that had already done the 'open' for Read to
 work with).

 Then Read was added to the List view of Home.  I went along with that, on
 the grounds that List view was the ideal place to *manipulate* Activities
 (e.g., delete them, etc.).

 Now #8350 asks that a front end (capable of 'open') be added to Read.  If
 what is wanted is a PDF-viewing Activity, why not create one specifically
 -- and keep Read as a 'helper' which is not itself capable of 'open' ?
