Comment:
The Journal behavior I am currently seeing (Joyride 2368+, Journal-98) is
repeatable. Most USB sticks (e.g., /media/KINGSTON), when I plug them in,
show up as an icon on the bottom edge of Journal. That means I have to go
to Journal, and click in the icon's palette, in order to unmount that
stick.
But what I myself enjoy is that I have a particular USB flash drive (in
the dump it is shown on /dev/sde1 as /media/CAVE) which is mounted by
journal/datastore *without* any icon showing up for it on the Journal
screen. That means I can unmount that flash drive directly from Terminal
(where I have been using it), and NOT have to go to the Journal screen to
issue the unmount.
Certain developers have said *all* removable devices should be shown as
Journal icons when they get mounted. For their inspection, I am enclosing
an olpc-log dump taken with /media/CAVE mounted, but not having an icon in
Journal.
