 When booting to a root filesystem on an inserted SD card using the latest
 build of the master kernel (2.6.26-20080731.1 from
 http://dev.laptop.org/~dilinger/master/), the kernel prints the following
 messages:

 {{{
 [ 3.512185] Waiting 2sec before mounting root device...
 [ 5.574603] VFS: Cannot open root device "mmcblk0p1" or unknown-block(0,0)
 [ 5.577210] Please append a correct "root=" boot option; here are the
 available partitions:
 [ 5.747213] Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on
 unknown-block(0,0)
 }}}

 This has been tested with rootdelay=1 and rootdelay=30, producing the same
 results (on a previous kernel it was tested with rootdelay=2).

 The olpc.fth file used to boot from the SD card is the following:

 {{{
 \ Boot script
 " ro root=/dev/mmcblk0p1 rootdelay=1 console=ttyS0,115200 console=tty0
 fbcon=font:SUN12x22" to boot-file
 boot sd:\boot\vmlinuz
 }}}

 These results are from a G1G1 XO (C2).

 For problem reports on a similar issue using previous versions of the
 master kernel, see the following:
