 I could not reproduce this problem.  I used Browse-98 with release 8.2-767
 on a G1G1v1 XO, and accessed my gmail with no problems, 5 minutes ago, and
 many times in the past several days. A few times, I had noticed a change
 in the gmail login screen (a new background image), but had no problems.
 But 5 minutes ago Gmail showed me the 'old' login screen with no
 background image, so maybe I'm not seeing the same environment as you.

 Were there any other activities running on your XO at the same time?  What
 XO software release are you using?  If your XO was busy or full,
 Browse/Gmail might have pushed it over the edge.  Re-test after reboot,
 running only Browse.
