 OK, some updates - I stepped through SD init with the debugger when I
 expected it to fail the first time on my 4GB card. Of course it powers up
 and works fine :).

 I further attempted to simply invoke the debugger (using : foo ; debug
 foo) to delay Forth, and the behavior still persisted. Not sure what else
 to try at this point.
