 I found out that for some reason the /home/olpc/.sugar/default/datastore
 folder that keeps the Journal´s files is randomly renamed to
 datastoreXXXXXXXXXXXX, where XXXXXXXXXX is a number (probably time/date
 related).

 I fixed most of the laptops on wich the journal had got cleared by doing
 the following steps:
 -copy the actual Journal files to a USB pendrive (copy done directly from
 the Journal)
 -remove the /home/olpc/.sugar/default/datastore folder (or rename it as
 datastore.old)
 -rename the /home/olpc/.sugar/default/datastoreXXXXXXX folder to datastore
 -reboot sugar
 -copy the files from the USB pendrive back to the Journal.

 Resuming: you have to find out where your lost Journal files are
 (/home/olpc/.sugar/default/datastoreXXXXXXXXX) and rename this folder to
 the actual Journal database path.
