Comment(by bemasc):
This bug is very much still alive in 703 and joyride. I recently observed
it while running on a mesh with only 3 XOs, in a very low-noise
environment (only two APs visible, and no other XOs around). I tried this
again when I got back to my apartment (about 15 APs visible, but still
only 3 XOs) and the bug did not appear. I have very rarely been able to
reproduce it in my apartment.
The only place I have consistently reproduced the problem is at 1CC, where
the mesh's packet loss is extremely high. However, we should be clear:
this bug can still occur in situations with very little packet loss, which
indicates that the transport being used for invitations is not truly
reliable.
This bug is the same as #6061, so the problem has been present at least
since January 2008. It's also highly correlated with stream tube
connection failure (which causes Distance not to work); I always see these
problems at the same time. I imagine that there may be a packet-loss-
tolerance bug in a piece of code that Salut uses both to send invitations
and to initiate stream tubes.
