 The Python executable dies on an assertion failure in
 PyString_FromStringAndSize: line 56, 'size >= 0' on the attached test
 script when run on an XO.[[BR]]
 The same script gives the expected result on Debian Etch.

 Python version on XO: 2.5[[BR]]
 Python version on Debian Etch: 2.4.4
