I have an USB hard drive attached to my G1G1 (Joyride, manually updated to
2178 equivalent). In Terminal did a 'find', which told me there was an io
error trying to access a partition on that hard drive. Did alt-tab to try
to reach another Terminal, in which an application resident on that hard
drive was running. This did not succeed - instead, the XO spontaneously
restarted Sugar. Took olpc-log dump as soon as Sugar had restarted. At
this time an 'ls' of the hard drive partition showed garbage entries - but
an 'ls' of my "permanent" SD card showed the correct content. Powered off
(without shutdown), rebooted. The partitions on the USB hard drive were
again shown correctly.
[The XO had been up for more than 24 hours before the problem occurred,
but had exhibited nothing unusual, save for "losing" the ethernet
connection (perhaps because the lease had expired?). I had managed to
manually restart the ethernet connection without having to resort to re-
starting Sugar.]
Am also enclosing a copy of the Journal log from when the failure
occurred. In looking at that log, I notice that it shows an io error for
my _SD card_ as well !!!
[The in-use partition on the hard disk (for which there is an icon on the
bottom bar of Journal) is mounted on
/media/e66f80e1_7b2d_4c7b_88c1_ea528e899065. Another partition on the
hard disk (for which there is _NO_ icon on the bottom bar of Journal) is
mounted on /media/43e6b669_c30b_40d0_8f5c_5901f5f9914a. My SD card (for
which there is _NO_ icon on the bottom bar of Journal) is mounted on
