 Actually, I think #7588 should be a high priority item, since it's the
 only ticket here which will actually indicate to the user that something
 needs to be done.  If we handle the alert well enough, we should beat the
 issue ''before'' the child winds up in a situation where they nearly
 cannot boot their machine.

 I attached a mockup on the ticket for the modal alert for this purpose.
 Note that this is independent of the notification system, which can be
 used later to provide less obtrusive (and earlier) indication that the
 kids should be aware of their space limitations.
