 I am experiencing identical symptoms, except that the problem is not fixed
 by a reboot.

 I am running Update1-684 and BIOS Q2D07.  My USB key is a "U3" drive,
 which means it appears as both a FAT32 mass-storage device and a USB
 external CD-ROM drive.  This type of flash drive is very common; it is
 designed to do something special under Windows.  Under previous versions
 of Update1, the drive would be handled correctly, and only the main
 partition would appear in the Journal.  Now, neither appears, and there is
 no recognition in the GUI that any device has been plugged in.
