 Alon Zakai suggested a patch by disabling the copy-image feature. We
 actually don't even provide support for this feature, so it makes sense.
 It is a ''very'' simple patch, and save a lot of mem: without this patch I
 have the following mem (RES) usage for the file attached here: 151MB @
 100%, 340MB @ 250%, 500+MB @ 400%. With the patch however: 42MB @ 100%,
 104MB @ 250%, 270MB @ 400%. Still much progress to be made, especially on
 the big dependence on the zoom-level, but it's a good start!
