#5793: Cursor jumps to screen edge on touch WHEN COLD

Symptom: Cursor follows finger movement accurately until the finger is
lifted and placed elsewhere on the pad. At that point, the cursor jumps
 to the screen edge.

Four fingered salute does not appear to fix it.

Power down/back up doesn't seem to have any effect.

Cursor works properly with a USB mouse attached.

Problem is worst right after bootup, in a cold (18C) room.

Applying cold (icepack) to the touchpad reliably invokes the problem.
Tapping on the pad causes the cursor to jump to the edge.

Applying heat to the touchpad reliably fixes the problem. Tapping on the
pad then does not cause the cursor to move.

This applies to the center (capacitive) portion of the touchpad. The
resistive (tablet) portion of the pad does not appear to work at all.
