Comment:

 COMMENT:  I believe the problem stems from some sort of a change in F10 to
 the "activity registry" interface.  Seems to me the software updater is
 failing to "insert" the newly installed Activities into the "activity
 registry", while what Home View shows is *extracted* from the "activity
 registry".

 Upon reboot, the "activity registry" is rebuilt from the content of
 /home/olpc/Activities - and shows everything that was installed.
