Comment:

 Had a similar situation of the backlight not being turned off.  Had just
 installed joyride 2368 and rebooted - but got distracted.  When I came
 back an hour later, the backlight was dimmed, but still on.  What 2368 had
 done on me was to suspend.

 Suspend or no suspend, what I had expected was that after enough minutes
 the backlight would be turned OFF.
