Comment(by wad):

 The response to the dbus-send command corresponding to the above logs has
 the following APs listed:

 {{{.../eth0/Networks/Watlington
 .../eth0/Networks/pinewood
 .../eth0/Networks/olpc_2d_mesh
 }}}

 shell.log shows:
 {{{... Net(Watlington): caps 0x10000001
 ... Net(Watlington): caps 0x10000001
 ... Net(pinewood): caps 0x1
 ... Net(.../eth0/Networks/olpc_2d_mesh): ssid 'olpc-mesh' is adhoc: not
 showing
 }}}

 Sugar is still the suspicion? In Sugar's defense, according to cscott
 there are no differences in Sugar between builds that show this problem
 and builds that don't. The relevant differences seem to be networking
 firmware/drivers. Maybe a latent Sugar bug tickled by a networking
 behavior change ?
